Using Microfiber as a Sports Towel

Blog Home > Using Microfiber as a Sports Towel

Sweat and sport are synonymous. You can’t have one without the other, unless your idea of sports is much like mine: the closest you get to actual sport is watching them on TV. The sticky feeling after a good workout is not one of my favorite sensations.

Microfiber sports towels are a good investment for people who love sports, or even for anyone who just likes a good workout once in a while. You can easily bring it to your soccer match or your power yoga class. Sports clothing made from microfiber are breathing fibers that allow your body to sweat without hampering evaporation. You can work out, feel cool and not have to be sticky-sweaty.

Microfiber is the perfect material for sports items because it’s lightweight (won’t take up tons of space in your gym bag) and completely useful for everybody. You don’t have to be a professional athlete to use microfiber sports towels. You can use it for a friendly basketball match, a morning at your local gym or even just while walking your dog.

The polyester/polyamide blend gives microfiber oil absorbing and water repelling properties. Polyamide absorbs oil and traps in within the fibers, so it doesn’t stay on the surface of the towel. In fact, microfiber fabric is 7 times more absorbent than any other fabric. The fibers actually leech sweat away from your skin. Since it absorbs oil as well, it soaks up the oil that comes out with your sweat. This means that the towel not only absorbs the sweat, but the shine that often appears right before the guy you’ve been eyeing at the gym decides that it’s the perfect time to strike up a conversation. Sports towels and wristbands made from microfiber absorb sweat better, making your workout or weekend touch football game more about the game and less about the sweat.

At the same time, the structure of the fiber allows it to repels water. When water lands on microfiber, it actually beads on the surface and slides off. A brief rain shower during your daily run won’t leave you soaked if your windbreaker is made of microfiber. Many sportswear companies like Nike have incorporated microfiber into their products because of these benefits. They use microfiber for outer and inner wear.

Training for sports will be easier with microfiber. Since it also kills bacteria, microfiber towels tend not to smell of sweat after you’ve used them. Bacteria is what causes body odor when we sweat, so you also smell decent even after running twenty laps around the circle. Microfiber towels also dry faster, so during a particularly heavy endurance session (like lunges or rolls for volleyball) you won’t be wiping your face with a smelly wet towel.

No matter what kind of sports you’re into or how you play them, a microfiber sports towel is a great investment for you. Even if you’re not into sports and just like to work out, it’s a great towel to bring along to the gym.
